His mother Leah Adherers was a concert pianist, and his father Arnold Spielings was an electrical engineer who worked on computer development. His childhood was spent in Haddington, New Jersey, and Scottsdale, Arizona. It was in Scot­tsdale, Arizona, where a young Steven Spielberg created 8mm short films.

At the age of 12, when he was filming a train wreck involving his toys, he made his first film. Back then, Spielberg had the audacity to charge 25 cents for children to see his many epics. On October 12, 1991, Steven Spielberg married his second wife Kate Capshaw, whom they had met when she was hired for Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom.
